Some background
Our stud was founded in 1984 with the purchase of our first purebred Arabian, a mare called ZEST (Waimeha Marendo x Zillain) . Her story can be read in the Australian Arabian Yearbook 1990.
Lawrence Arabians is situated in the beautiful Waitaki Valley, in North Otago, South Island , New Zealand.
Our stud consists of two stallions and three purebred mares, all of whom have been bred at the stud.
Our aims are very modest. We endeavour to breed Arabians who are attractive athletes. For that reason all our breeding stock has been broken into saddle and have proven themselves as suitable riding horses.
Very occassionally we will venture to a show, but my real interest is long distance riding, as a recreation and sometimes as a sport ie, endurance and CTR.
Over the years we have enjoyed breeding some lovely stock by our resident "Boy" QUASSA and gain a lot of satisfaction from sharing their success for their new "families".
The bloodlines in our stud are predominantly Crabbet - Old English, with one Polish line.
Some of the blood is rare here in New Zealand. For instance, QUASSA is the only entire by the English Champion Desert Shadow imp UK (Desert King - Autumn Shadow). Desert Shadow was a beautiful chestnut stallion imported from the UK and a multi champion show horse.
His dam, Autumn Shadow (Bey Shadow x Nasim) was one of three full sisters, Velvet Shadow and Crystal Shadow being the other two, who created a dynasty of beautiful stallions who have gone on to be very influential thoughout the world.
Namely:
Carmargue (1985 World Champion, Paris and 1986 Spanish National Champion).
Rostam 1982 Res World Champion, Paris.
